Palo Alto -- Outstanding winners from the International Russian Music Piano Competition (IRMPC) will deliver a special, one night only benefit concert on Saturday, February 7, 2004. Rescuing Global Neighbors (RGN), is presenting its 4th benefit program, and has partnered with the IRMPC to bring performers of the highest caliber to the local Palo Alto Area. Part of the concert proceeds will be used to defray the treatment expenses of Nikita Chalenko, a 4 year old patient presently being treated in the Moscow Children's Hospital, in Moscow.

"RGN, which provides direct assistance for people in crisis living in the countries of the former Soviet Union, has been asked to help with the needs of this very special child," said Luda Shuster, president of the RGN. "Our portion of the proceeds will be used to purchase expensive drugs for treatment that would otherwise not be available for children like Nikita Chalenko." The IRMPC will use its portion of the proceeds to assist young musicians with travel and housing expenses. "Each year we attract the most talented young musicians from the international music community. In 2003, over 100 contestants from 17 different countries converged on San Jose to compete in this prestigious event. Some of the contestants are less fortunate than others, and would not be able to compete without assistance" says Irina Prilipko-Morgan, President of the Competition, who is a concert pianist, internationally acclaimed opera accompanist, and a PHD graduate from former Soviet Georgia Conservatory of Music.

This exciting program will feature performances by previous winners of the competition, and will include works of Schumann, Chopin, Prokofiev, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, and Stravinsky.

Don't miss this exciting event. Order your tickets today.
